HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Vandalia Research, Inc. today announced that it has secured Series A financing led by Mountaineer Capital, LP, with additional investment from the West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust Board and several individual investors. The company plans to use the capital to expand its commercialization efforts of its proprietary Triathlon DNA production services and to upgrade its facilities to current Good Manufacturing Practices capability.

Vandalia Research, Inc. was founded in 2005 by Marshall University faculty Dr. Elizabeth Murray and Dr. Michael Norton, and Marshall University students Derek Gregg and Justin Swick. The four invented the Triathlon, a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based DNA production system, which allows the production of linear DNA fragments in a very cost-effective and efficient manner.
