FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 19 JAN 2007 Huntington, WV — Vandalia Science Education announced today the launch of two additional modules in the Mystery of Lyle and Louise, a premier line of forensic science education kits.
In "Blood Spatter", students first learn about the techniques for blood spatter pattern analysis. Then, students will conduct an experiment designed to determine the relationship between the height and angle of impact of a blood drop and the size of shape of the spatter. In the fifth lab to be released, "Hair & Fiber Analysis", students are tasked with analyzing hair and fiber evidence. Hairs and fibers must first be removed from trace evidence collection tape by dissolving its adhesive in water and filtering the hairs and fibers from the solution. Students will then characterize the hairs and fibers using microscopy.
Once students have completed one or more modules, they may participate in a mock trial to hold a suspect accountable. Each module also includes a fully illustrated manual with a history of the technique written by industry experts, pre- and post-lab exercises, and detailed teacher's notes. The first five modules (DNA Typing, Questioned Documents, Bite Marks Analysis, Blood Spatter, and Hair & Fiber Analysis) are now available for sale at www.LyleAndLouise.com or by calling 304-529-0803. A special sale going until the end of February allows you to receive $25 off any kit purchase by using coupon code "4525OFF".
